Day 1 – Touchdown, and Hello Ayutthaya!

Today, me and my dorm mates namely, Dionas from PSU – Philippines, Muzany from UNPAK – Indonesia and Chester from FEU – Philippines were already prepared at 8 AM and were fetched by the students of Ms. Sherina to assist us to ARU. Before we started our activities today, we ate at their canteen and it was refreshing to see people enjoying their food. After we ate, we were gathered in a mini-conference room together with Ms. Sherina, her student Na and the rest of the pre-service teachers. We were oriented about the lesson plan of Thailand education and some reminders about the program. We were also oriented of the school we are about to observe and teach in Ayutthaya together with the type of school and our mentor in the University’s Faculty of Education.
Immediately after the orientation, we were toured in the university by our facilitator Ms. Sherina. We roamed around the university and visited the supply store, library and other facilities. I was surprised to see the university library because it has karaoke in it, which caught my attention and interest. We ate lunch after the tour and met again with our facilitators. This time, we toured around Ayutthaya. We first visited the Ayutthaya Tourism Information Centre to have background about the place and the things to do here. Then we visited Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Samphao Lom. We also visited a tall temple in the same place. Our itinerary for the day ended by visiting the diamond fortresss which the three river meets wrapping up the day by buying things in the Amporn Supermarket.
